Our Fetal Health Services

The fetus is what it is all about.

Watching a tiny embryo grow to a full term baby is incredible and we feel very privileged to be apart of the journey.

We provide a range of services from routine ultrasounds, advanced pregnancy screening to tertiary level consultation.

Pregnancy Screening

Cell free fetal DNA (NIPT) and plus structural scan between 12 – 16 weeks gestation

Includes Pre and Post-test counselling including options for different types of NIPT, sample collection and viability scan at the time of sample collection (if before 12 weeks).

Pre-eclampsia screening

Specialised uterine Doppler studies along with biomarker testing.

Traditional combined first trimester screening

Includes pre and post-test counselling with explanation of risk assessment. Options for invasive testing will be made available if there is a high risk result or structural problem.

Morphology

Routine morphology scan

Performed by experienced sonographers and includes transvaginal imaging to assess cervical length, placental location.

Detailed tertiary level morphology scan

To be performed for any abnormality previously documented on ultrasound. Plus consultation with a certified Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist and option for chromosomal testing will be offered at the time of this ultrasound.

Invasive Testing

Chorionic villous sampling

This procedure is performed between 11 and 14 weeks and involves sampling the placental cells to assess the chromosomes (or building blocks) of your baby.

Amniocentesis

This procedure is performed from 16 weeks onwards to assess the chromosomes of your baby.

Complex Twin Pregnancy

Includes range of ultrasounds from 1st trimester screening, morphology and 3rd trimester ultrasound.

Specialising in management of high risk twin pregnancies and surveillance for complications

Cervical Screening

Cervical screening in pregnancy in 2nd and 3rd trimesters

Specialised transvaginal imaging on a regular basis including interpretation, counselling and recommendation for management.

Fetal Growth and Wellbeing

Detailed 3rd trimester ultrasound

Assess fetal anatomy, growth, interval and wellbeing, correlation with previous ultrasounds and management plan for surveillance.

Counselling

Carrier screening

Discuss options for testing including pre and post-test counselling and perform sample collection.

Pre-conception counselling

Counselling and pregnancy plan and liaising with the General Practitioner.

Fee Statement

The medicare rebate for Obstetric and Gynaecology ultrasound has not changed over time and does not cover the cost of a high quality service with skilled sonographers, doctors and state of the art ultrasound technology and the servicing costs.

That is why there is a private cost for our service, and you will receive a portion of this back from medicare.
